About Redmond West Little League
Who We Are
Redmond West Little League (RWLL) is a community‑based, volunteer‑driven organization dedicated to teaching baseball and softball while helping young athletes grow as teammates, competitors, and people.
We serve children ages 5–18 in the Redmond area, providing a safe, inclusive, and fun environment where players learn the fundamentals of the game, develop confidence, and build friendships that last far beyond the season. RWLL proudly operates under Little League® International, sharing its long‑standing commitment to sportsmanship, citizenship, and teamwork.
Our history
Youth baseball at Hartman Park dates back to 1952, making it one of the longest‑running baseball venues in the region. The first field lights were installed in 1967, allowing evening games and expanding access for working families.
Before Hartman Park existed, Redmond youth baseball was played at what is now Anderson Park. The development of Hartman Park marked a turning point that helped Little League baseball grow alongside the rapidly expanding Redmond community. [redwestll....rtngin.com]
The park is named after Jonathan Hartman, the City of Redmond’s first salaried planning director, who served the city for fifteen years. His name reflects the park’s deep connection to Redmond’s civic and community history.
Little League Baseball has a long tradition in Redmond and on the Eastside of Lake Washington. Originally, Redmond was served by a single Little League program, which later expanded as the community grew. In 1980, the original Redmond Little League split into Redmond East and Redmond West, creating what is now Redmond West Little League.
As Redmond continued to expand, league boundaries evolved throughout the 1980s. By 1988, Redmond West emerged as one of three distinct Redmond‑area leagues, solidifying the footprint and identity RWLL maintains today.
Redmond West Little League is part of Washington District 9, a collection of Eastside leagues that together serve thousands of youth athletes and share a strong tradition of competitive play and community collaboration.
RWLL has been formally organized as a Washington nonprofit corporation since 2003, operating entirely through the dedication of local volunteers.
